Thin Section Petrography

Our detailed thin section reports incorporate the mineralogy of framework grains, grain sorting, grain size distribution, rock type (Folk and/or Dunham Classification), cements and/or authigenic minerals (diagenesis), reservoir characterization (porosity types and porosity-permeability relationship), reservoir facies identification and formation damage issues.  In addition, X-Ray Diffraction analyses (to identify mineralogy and clay minerals for its sensitivity),


Scanning Electron Microscopy (identifies mineral morphology and mode of occurrence within the pore system), Back-Scattered SEM (image analyses software is used to identify effective Vs non-effective porosity) and Mercury Injection Capillary Pressure (pore throat size distribution) are also incorporated within the reports for regional sedimentological studies.
