Particle Size Distribution (PSD)
Particle size distribution analysis, also called grain size distribution analysis, is used for quantitative determination of the distribution of particle sizes for unconsolidated samples such as oil sands, other reservoir samples or soil. PSD analysis is widely used for application in the petroleum industry for characterization of reservoir properties such as grain size mode that can provide an insight into sediment maturity, and for designing production liners, etc.
It is also used in civil engineering projects as the distribution of grain sizes affects the engineering properties of soil. At Argile Analytica, we ensure that the sample is homogenized, adequately sub-sampled and fully dispersed following a rigorously developed SOP. In-house studies were performed to test various techniques for PSD analysis, with very strong correlations.
